about us

Who We Are

Fad Saoil was created from a simple belief that people need spaces to slow down, reconnect and feel better in themselves.

In a world that constantly asks us to move faster, we built places designed to do the opposite. Places where conversation softens, phones disappear, breath deepens and people leave feeling lighter than when they arrived.

Inspired by traditional sauna culture and shaped by the rhythm of Irish community, Fad Saoil is more than just heat and cold immersion. It’s a modern social ritual. A space to release stress, recover physically, reset mentally and reconnect with yourself and with others.

From coastal mornings in Greystones to evenings in Rathmines and Blackrock, every Fad Saoil location is built around the same feeling: warmth, presence and belonging.

Our name means “long life” in Irish, and that philosophy sits at the heart of everything we do. We believe wellbeing should feel human. Simple. Shared. Sustainable.

Whether you come for recovery, clarity, connection or stillness, the experience remains the same:

Release. Relax. Recover.

Meet the man on a mission

Steve Crosbie is the proud founder of Fad Saoil Saunas.

He started his working life as professional rugby player playing for Leinster, Munster and Connacht in Ireland, as well as Wanganui in New Zealand over a career spanning 8 seasons.

After transitioning away from rugby in 2019, he returned to third-level education to complete his degree in sport and exercise management at UCD. During his studies he authored a paper on sauna bathing trends and cultures globally, which was the catalyst in him founding Fad Saoil Saunas later that year. At the time it was Ireland’s only public outdoor sauna.

The seed for Fad Saoil was sown several years prior to this with Steve experiencing sauna culture in New Zealand. Back home, he was always dragging players out to Salthill for a dip in the sea before a sauna at a local gym after.

Steve has a deep rooted passion for sharing the positive impact sauna can have on a person’s physical, mental and emotional health. Hence, why he is on mission to bring it to as many people as possible - firstly on the island of Ireland, before moving further afield with Fad Saoil.

Outside of Fad Saoil Steve is an amabassador for the Movember charity and Kinneteca, Ireland’s no.1 nutritional supplements business.
